Bouska Anastasia

Ukrainian artist, painter, autodidact

Anastasia says of herself:

I come from Ukraine from the town of Cherkassy, which is located on the banks of the Dnieper River.

At the age of 6, I started going to an art club and I remember how surprised I was when I managed to draw a picture that really resembled the subject. It made a huge impression on me and planted in me the desire to continue creating.

After I finished art school in Karlovy Vary, I moved to Prague to work and study. Because of the need to make a living in Prague, I could not go to study painting. So I studied at the Faculty of Humanities of Charles University and painted after work.

Painting became a personal outlet for me, giving me a sense of joy, fulfilment and serving as a means to find myself.

I don't have the intention to create something specific, it is always about an emerging feeling, especially when looking at the beauty of nature. The clouds alone hold so many shades of colour...

I like painting landscapes the most, the essence of which is to capture the uniqueness and colourfulness, at the same time I see it as an escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

I use a spatula to apply the paint to the canvas. The painting then takes on a plastic texture and it's great.

Although I have no formal training, I believe that art is a subjective and personal journey.
