Bouda Jiří

Czech painter, graphic artist and illustrator, son of the painter Cyril Bouda, member of the Hollar group.

He was born on May 5th 1934 in Prague, where he died August 23th 2015. Jiří Bouda, son of the famous academic painter Cyril Bouda, awas always preoccupied with art. After graduating from the State Graphic School and the Academy of Arts and Sciences (headed by professor Svolinsky), he joined the signal station at the train station in Bubeneč in Prague - his inspiration was mainly the technology and above all the rail transport. His drawings and graphics of Prague and railways are very well known, but he also devoted part of his work to the historic paintings of Czech and Moravian towns or to postage stamps.
